We only got married just over 4 months ago. We had a truly wonderful day- the sun was shining, all our friends and family were there, and we just had the most amazing time. What topped it all off for me though was receiving our album of wedding photos. We hired a company called ‘Wedding Photography Kent‘ to take our wedding photos, and they did an amazing job for us.

Not only did they take beautiful photos that really captured the story and emotions of the day they all presented them in an album that had the most wonderful custom design. I paid a little bit extra to have a genuine leather cover on the album too! All my friends have seen the album and they all say how wonderful it looks. I think secretly some of them may be a little jealous!

If I was offering advice to other couples getting married I would tell them that photography is one area where you really shouldn’t look to save money. After all its your photos that will hold your memories of the day for many years to come, and that is just priceless!

In this post we shall give you a review of the optical performance of the Nikon 50mm 1.4 lens which is an amazing lens considering the features that you get for the price that you pay. Sharpness is quite good in this lens at all the aperture settings and you can even use it fully wide open. However, border sharpness is a different story all together and you will notice that at f/1.4 it is quite soft. Vignetting also is present at f/1.4. Considering that this is a fast lens, this is expected and not a surprise. You can easily handle it by either using it in stop down mode or using image processing software. Distortions are completely absent in this lens as it is not a zoom lens. Even at f/1.4 you will not notice any chromatic aberrations as it offers excellent control over CA. All in all, this lens is quite good and can be rated excellent.

That’s rather an outrageous title isn’t it? I think almost everyone would agree on that. But not to worry, you look at someone’s portfolio and you like what you see, or you don’t. If you hire an electrician to do some work in your home, I don’t think he will show you photos of his work.

For the electrician you will have to find some way of checking her out. What I’m saying is, I don’t see much risk in hiring a photographer for your wedding. You simply go by the photos that are shown to you, although you do want to meet him for an interview. If you can it would also be good to talk to a couple who hired him in the past.

I have a photograph on my computer done by a vancouver wedding photographer. He claims to have 15 years experience, charges about $500 for a wedding, and his photos are horrid. So it’s not hard to stay away from someone like that. (Who would hire him?)

But do check out your photographer; is he doing the kind of work you like? Will you work as a team to get the results you want? There may be the odd wedding photographer who works alone, I’m not so sure I would go that route. A husband and wife team is a good idea.
